camp

The Ashclan camp is tucked under a cliff in the heart of the redwood forest. A seasonal waterfall collects into a small stream at the edge of the camp. The waterfall, and dripping algae created by it, hide a deep hollow in the rock. This hollow is the medics' den, specially chosen for the access to water and the cool rocks' ability to preserve herbs. Across from the waterfall, on a dry area of the cliff, the elders den is hidden. The rock is worn smooth from generations of elders coming and going from their clearing behind blackberry bushes, protected on all sides by their trusty camp.

Long ago, the Mother Tree grew in the center of the clearing. Though she is now long fallen, her hollowed trunk and still alive roots keep the camp alive. Queens and their kits live under the trunk, relying on its charred surface to cover the kits and keep them camoflagued from dangerous hawks. The leader also lives within the confines of the Mother Tree. Near her base, a white redwood shrub hides an old fox-den, the perfect size for Ashclans leader.

Another, smaller redwood had fallen into the camp. Strong branches hold up the trunk from the ground, creating a perfect sheltered area for warriors to den. Warriors and apprentices spend their days collecting leaves and branches to cover the dying branches, keeping the den dry and warm in the wettest winters. Next to the warriors den, a family of ferns hide the apprentice den. While it is less covered than the other dens, the apprentice den is close to the center of camp and has many tunnels through the leaves that apprentices love to explore.

When addressing the camp, the leader jumps onto the remains of the Mother Trees' stump. The fresh-kill pile is kept on a shaded rock across the clearing from the river. Getting in to the camp requires cats to navigate down the sandy cliff across from the waterfall, or wade up the stream created from the redwood.

leader and deputy

Cloverstar (above) and Jaggedfur (left) are incredibly close to each other. As former mates, the clan was concerned that they'd be able to lead the clan fairly, without their relationship getting in the way. Through time, they've proven that they're able to keep their feelings for each other on the back-burner, not letting it effect the clans prosperity.

Cloverstar has had a fairly straightforward life, and is committed to upholding the warrior code. She struggles with the nuances of being a leader, and relies heavily on her friends and clanmates to be the best leader she can be. She became leader at 92 moons old.

Jaggedfur gives his deputy duties his all, every day. Jaggedfur does still wish he and Cloverstar were together, but she remains steadfast in her decision that the clan must come first, not interpersonal relationships.

medics

Newtslash (right) and Sootpaw (below) do their best to take care of the clan. While their personalities are very opposing, they've learned to work with each other and have become quite the duo.

Newtslash is a strict, but empathetic healer. She takes no shit from Cloverstar, and is one of her main support pillars. Newtslash understands that sometimes, rules need to be broken to uphold the Warrior code in the long run. She misses being the apprentice in the den, but is grateful that her former mentor, Bayslug, is living out the rest of his life happily in the Elders den

Sootpaw (soon to be Sootpiper) has an excellent memory, but struggles with interpreting signs from Starclan. He overthinks his work as a medic, oftentimes letting the Warrior code dictate his life more than a typical Medic should. However, he loves Newtslash and his path in life, and wouldn't change it for anything.

firewatchers

Waspnose (below) is a solitary cat by nature, who enjoys the slow, lonely life of a smokewatcher. She dreads her frequent returns to Ashclan, and often insists the other Smokewatchers take their breaks in her place. She's a small cat, with claws strong enough to cling to the thinnest tree-tops and eyes sharp enough to detect even the furthest smoke plumes.
